travelfearsPeople are traveling less and less due to rising crime rates in the most favored tourist spots around the globe. Tourism authorities have been forced to lower prices without much luck leaving some of the most visited destinations empty. Areas that are most frequented mostly exist in developing countries where people have been hit hard by the global slump. Rising crime has been a major concern for travelers who take safety seriously. The many incidents of violence towards tourists such as in Mexico have left many previously blooming tourism spots almost dry of customers.
Prices of airfare and other costs have also followed suit, making them more inaccessible to most who want to travel. The risks just seem to be too great and with more pressing issues to be addressed such as unemployment, health care and many other come first. The tourism industry is based mostly on people who travel for leisure but recession has left most of us at home, trying to make do with what we have as little as possible. The global slowdown is affecting all aspects of the economy and as long as these conditions persists, no rise in travelers can be expected soon.
