Students nowadays get these special perks for just about anything. They have student meals, student prices, student discounts and so on and so forth. These perks actually help those who study and work at the same time (financial issues).

Now, travel insurances have entered the picture: they now serve travel insurance and emergency travel assistance to students. The sons and daughters of expatriates and even locals can actually enjoy this perk as long as you’re a student. If you have an upcoming botanical research somewhere in Africa this Friday, and your professor suddenly scheduled your defense on the same date, you can cancel your trip and get a money back guarantee. Also, lost luggage and every perk that normal travel insurances cover, apply.

The truth about travel insurances.

It is a fact that insurances have shady boundaries. One has to be a cryptographer before he/she figures out what the policy is about. Ok, maybe that’s a little exaggerated but the truth is, it’s somewhat true. It’s like a needle inside a haystack—you won’t see the needle not unless you remove the bundle, place the hay on top of a white cloth, and dig your way to that miniscule needle.

Flight and travel insurances work the same way. Their coverages are actually covered already by life insurance and so, some people feel that it’s just a waste of money acquiring that travel insurance.

Travel insurances nowadays offer great flexibility. A lot of them have included a lot of varieties to choose from, and one of which is the single trip travel insurance. A single trip is different from the others. If you really are in a tight budget, then you can settle for the single trip insurance instead. However, the single trip has a disadvantage: you can only use it once within the 12 month cover. But, if you plan on traveling lots of times within the year of the purchase, then might as well settle for the Annual travel insurance instead. You can get a bargain when you purchase the Annual.

Almost all travel insurances you hear have something to do with either the business people or those who travel for leisure. Actually, travel insurance is not limited into these two. There are people, especially the athletes, who have sports travel insurances whenever they travel around the globe for competitions. Sports Cover Direct is a very good source of all sorts of sports insurances. They even have sports accident insurance if you suddenly flipped your skateboard the wrong way during X-games. Also, even if you’re just an amateur, they’ll cover you with their SportsGuard plan. Their services are so flexible that they can even top up your current travel insurance (if that insurance does not cover sports).

Most of Travel Insurance providers offer a 24/7 hour medical assistance service policy for travelers for the event or situation that they need it. In case that this event occurred, you should reach or contact assistance service that is responsible for providing access from any medical professional or practitioner. Another one is the assistance service in charge with arranging emergency transportation to any of the accessible hospital nearby the place. If the event requires medical evacuation back home, inform family or friends and authorized people to arrange the evacuation. Always place your medical assistance card accessible. Lastly, since travel insurance covers medical assistance, whatever fees that you had will be reimbursed. See to it that you keep safe the medical receipts or any medical treatment details to submit in order to obtain the reimbursement fee as soon as you get to your home country.

4.jpgWhen you purchase your travel insurance, make it sure that you studied the details of the coverage. Check out for clauses that your policy coverage may have and it is your responsibility to determine what will be the effect of such clauses if possible. There may be some dangers that you will experience during your holiday trip and it is possible that your travel insurance policy does not cover them. You may be placed under detention or your belongings be confiscated by Customs or any authority. You may be surprised too that you are not covered against any risk of being contaminated with radioactive. And many more dangers that many travel insurance policies do not cover.

The “Free Look” Period

3.JPGMost travel insurance include in their policy coverage something called a “free-look” period. This option allows the consumer a certain period of time in which he/she can return the policy and refund. The travelers may purchase a plan of their choice and they will be given a certain time to read through the policy until they finally decide to get the insurance. The number of days of a “free-look” period is between 10-15 days. So if you purchase the policy, and for whatever reason returned it not later than 15 days, you are eligible to refund the premium. An administration fee may be charged but it is just minimal and will still be worth it.

Travel Insurance is also one of the benefits provided by credit card. In making sure that you know the terms, you have to ask for a copy of policy wording from the bank or your credit card provider. This will enable you to know and understand the scope of the Travel Insurance included in your credit card. Be also aware that in this kind of insurance, you are not the direct person that made transactions with the travel insurance enclosed in your credit card; instead, it should be the bank or your credit card provider. They are the ones responsible in that matter because they are the same people who made arrangements about the scope and limitations of the credit card travel insurance.
